Step 1.Select a metallic spray paint. To increase the visual appeal of a simple plastic garden urn, choose a metallic spray paint from a local hardware store. Make sure the spray paint is designed to adhere to plastic. Metallic shades in silver or aluminum tend to have the biggest impact.

Step 2.Spray paint the urn. Place the plastic urn on a painter's cloth or thick protective plastic outdoors and spray the entire surface of the urn. The size of the urn, ranging from small table size to floor size, needs to be adequately covered with paint on both the interior and exterior. Let the paint dry completely.
